Spotlight 29 Casino is an Indian casino in Coachella, California, owned and operated by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians of California. The casino is 250,000 square feet, with 1,600 slot machines and 22 table games.^[2] Amenities include two restaurants, food court, three bars and the Spotlight Showroom, which seats 2,200.^[3]

Spotlight 29 is owned and operated by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. Spotlight 29 Casino opened its doors in 1995 to the public under the right of National Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988;stating Native American Tribes have a right to operate Casinos. First of all, we wanted to check out the RV parking because we were trying to decide between staying there for a couple of days or moving a few miles down the road to the Fantasy Springs Casino.

History[edit]

Spotlight 29 Casino opened in January 1995 to the public under the right of the National Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988, allowing Native American Tribes to operate casinos. In March 2001, the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians teamed with Donald Trump and Spotlight 29 Casino became Trump 29 Casino, opening on April 2, 2002. In 2006, the relationship with Donald Trump ended, and the casino returned to its original name, after which many renovations were completed including a new 1,200 vehicle parking structure and an expansion of nearly 150,000 square feet, updating the casino to include nearly 250,000 square feet for gaming, offices, meetings and conferences, dining and entertainment.^[4]

Spotlight Showroom[edit]

The Spotlight Showroom has 2,200 seats for live concerts, entertainment, sporting events, conferences, and special events. The Showroom also hosts the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indian’s annual Winter POW WOW^[6] as well as Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation’s annual Fashion Show.^[7]

2018 Expansion and Renovations

November 01, 2018

En Vivo opened in July 2018. The entertainment venue took over the previous Blue Bar space. New decor and a sound system costing $80,000 were added. Friday and Saturday nights feature live music.

The food court underwent changes in August 2018. Sharkey's Pizza, Mr. Weiner, and Easy Rita's Margaritas were added in the beach themed area. La Diabla Maria, a sit down restaurant, was also added.

Spotlight 29 opens four new restaurants

August 31, 2018

New restaurants opened today at Spotlight 29 Casino.

Located at the previous Groove nightclub space street tacos are served at La Diabla Maria. Guests can choose different types of flavors for their taco.

Personal pizzas can be ordered at Sharkey's Pizza. Toppings will be traditional and different.

At Easy Rita's Margaritas flavored drinks will range from Rock Star Raspberry to Pina Colada. Drinks can be ordered with or without alcohol.

Hot dogs can be ordered at Mr. Weiner's. There is a large amount of choices when it comes to toppings for the hot dogs and served on potato buns.

Sharky's Pizza, Easy Rita's Margaritas, and Mr. Weiner's are located at the Pier 29 Food Court.

Spotlight 29 Casino breaks ground on outdoor event center

January 30, 2018

Spotlight 29 Casino is adding to the growing list of casinos in Southern California that are undergoing expansion projects.

In Coachella a field that is owned by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians is planning on developing a venue that will host temporary events. The land is located next to the tribe's casino. The event venue will be named Coachella Crossroads.

The space will be able to host outdoor events such as festivals, concerts, farmer markets, and car shows. It will also be able to offer a temporary place to stay while attending music festivals in the area.

Village 29 will take five of the acres. Plans include space for campgrounds and RV sites. There will also be a pop-up hotel and pool during Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival. Construction for the project will begin in April.

On January 30 ground was broken for the project.

For nearly ten years there was no development plan at all for the land. However camp sites provided an idea for what the land could be turned into.

Guests visiting for the large music festivals are in need of more accommodations.

Prices have not been released yet for the Stagecoach Country Music Festival. However, prices have been released for the Coachella Music & Arts Festival.

Prices released are for three night accommodations. Tent camping starts at $99. RV sites will range from $499 to $1,599. Rooms at the pop-up hotel will be $1,179.
